If you tune in to watch pretty much any make-over show on TV that involves surgery, you will always see liposuction somewhere! There are many areas of the body that can have fat removed, but it always looks so painful. As well as being repeatedly jabbed with what looks like a giant knitting needle, fat and blood get sucked out, resulting in major bruising, swelling and pain. I cannot imagine how painful it is when someone has liposuction on their neck, for example. If for you, the thought of traditional liposuction is too much then there is a new treatment available, which may be just the thing you have been looking for.

A new form of laser liposuction is now available and it involves the fat being sucked out after it has liquefied. It is, in effect, liposuction but with a smaller tube. This basically means less downtime, scarring, and pain. For example, a 90-minute session usually results in dropping as much as whole dress size. In addition, the results are also immediate (unlike “Smart Lipo” where the fat has to be processed by the body so weight loss takes between 6 to 12 weeks). You can return to work the next day, although no vigorous exercise is allowed, and you can expect to be sore for up to a week.

Although not always necessary, painkillers are provided and the clinic also prescribes you a course of antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. In addition, the clinic recommends lymphatic massage and colonics in the weeks after the treatment to help eliminate any leftover liquid fat cells from the body.

If you wish to have an “area” done this covers (for example) love handles (hips!), both outer or inner thighs, etc, etc.

Once you have fully researched your desired treatment, it is a good idea to take extra care of your skin before the procedure. By this, I mean drinking your 8 glasses of water a day and eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, you could add 30 minutes of exercise into your day (for example, if you normally get public transport to work, then get off one stop earlier and add a bit more walking to your day). If walking is not your thing, then why not grab a friend or two and hit your local swimming pool or gym? It’ll be more fun and you probably won’t even feel like you’re exercising! Finally, treat yourself to a tub of a gorgeous-scented body scrub and body lotion and use both regularly. This will ensure that your skin is in tip-top condition and will help to speed healing time along.
