Exfoliating your face is an important step in maintaining healthy and young looking skin. There are many methods to this process you can use and some are better than others. Some scrubs have broken pieces of shell in them that are too sharp and can actually cut and tear the skin. The purpose of exfoliating is to gently remove the top layer of skin. It shouldn’t have to feel like you are literally scraping the top layer of your skin off. Here are just a few methods that are better options for you to consider.

One favorite way to get a nice exfoliation is to add a little finely granulated sugar to your gentle daily facial cleanser. Don’t press too hard, but use light circular motions all over your face and neck and then gently splash off the mixture with tepid or cool water. Michigan Cosmetic Surgery is operated at the clinic for better results. The person has to travel to the clinic for removal of the excessive fat from the face.

Another method is to use a special cloth with your plain gentle facial cleanser. A great example for an exfoliating cloth is The Ayate cloth. It’s best to look for products that are made from 100% natural fibers that will not scratch your skin and gentle enough for your face. Keep in mind you won’t be used to it at first and it might feel rough.

There are many over the counter exfoliating scrubs that are very good like ones by Alba. Make sure you read online reviews for your favorite brands or to explore a few new brands. This way you can see which ones have the best ratings to help you weed through the large masses.

A more pricey way to achieve exfoliation is through microdermabrasion from a professional esthetician. This uses a machine that uses diamond dust to remove the top layers of dead skin to expose new and healthier skin. A few drug store brands make a home microdermabrasion kit that works well, but does not exactly achieve what you would get professionally.

Peels are a fast way to get a similar result to microdermabrasion by using a glycolic or salicylic acid application from an esthetician. Brands like Avon, who sell lighter versions of peels with weekly wipes, are not as strong as professional products and take longer to achieve similar results but are a good option to do yourself at home. Extreme peels like the Jessner or TCA Peels should only be done by a professional under the care of a doctor. Both microdermabrasion and peels can have a certain level of discomfort depending on how strong the product is and your personal level of tolerance.

However you decide to accomplish exfoliation, make sure it is what works for you and your lifestyle. Do your homework and try a few out. Your favorite might just be what you make yourself!
